And now we approach the close of the day. The images that come to mind at the beginning are of the light of the day slowly fading into long shadow. As the song progresses I imagine the day giving way to night, setting into a deep night with a crystal clear sky, stars and a bright moon. Now the shadows of day are replaced by shadows of the night.

The night is not frightening although the ending of the song kind of feels that way a little. I think the mood as the song moves along is more about the deepness of the night, not about fear.
